I'm Ray. I keep the books for small businesses here in San Antonio, and I do this one myself.
Under $75,000 a year
I will do your bookkeeping for nothing.
If your business brings in less than $75,000 a year, I will keep your books every month at no charge. What I ask in return is that Elevated Tax Strategies prepares your yearly tax return.
One 45-minute call. After that, there are no meetings.
Why I would do that
Most bookkeepers will not take a business this size, so the owner ends up doing it at eleven at night, or not at all. Then tax season arrives, the numbers are a guess, and the return costs more than it should because someone has to reconstruct the year first.
I would rather keep your books clean all year and earn your tax return at the end of it. That is the entire trade, and I would rather say it plainly than pretend the bookkeeping is a gift.
You get books you can actually use. I get the tax work. Nobody is being sold anything they did not agree to.
What you get
All of it at no cost while you are under $75,000 in annual revenue.
- Monthly bookkeeping done in Kick
- A Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet once a quarter
- Your own Basecamp project for every question and document
- Year-end books ready for your tax return
What I ask in return
Four things, all of them stated here rather than buried in a document you sign later.
- Elevated Tax Strategies prepares your yearly tax return. Returns start at $1,000.
- Your bookkeeping is done on Kick.
- All communication happens in Basecamp. There are no meetings after onboarding.
- You share honest feedback on how it is going.
What it costs
There is no bookkeeping fee. Here is every dollar you could ever be asked for, including the one most offers like this leave out.
Monthly bookkeeping
$0
While you are under $75,000 a year.
Your yearly tax return
From $1,000
Prepared by Elevated Tax Strategies. This is what pays for the bookkeeping.
Kick software
Only past 250
If your business runs more than 250 transactions a year, Kick charges for the software. You can pay it through us, or Kick can bill you directly.
When you outgrow it
$325 a month
Once you pass $75,000 a year, bookkeeping starts at $325 a month. No contracts, and you hear about it before an invoice does.
I am telling you the number now, before you sign up, because finding out what something costs after you are already dependent on it is the thing everybody hates about this industry.
How it works
-
Book the onboarding
One call, about 45 minutes. We confirm you qualify, and I ask enough about how you operate to categorize things correctly instead of guessing.
-
We set up Kick and Basecamp
Your Kick account is created in your name, and we connect your bank and card accounts. You get your own Basecamp project, which is where we talk and where your documents live.
-
I do the books every month
Every transaction categorized, personal spending kept out of the business, and accounts reconciled against real statements rather than whatever the bank feed imported.
-
You get statements every quarter
A Profit and Loss and a Balance Sheet, four times a year. If something looks strange, I flag it in Basecamp instead of waiting for you to notice.
Do you qualify?
All four need to be true.
- Your business is in or around San Antonio
- You bring in less than $75,000 a year
- You want Elevated Tax Strategies to prepare your yearly return
- You are comfortable talking in Basecamp instead of by phone
Questions people actually ask
- Is this actually free?
- Yes, and here is exactly how it works. There is no bookkeeping fee while your business is under $75,000 a year. What pays for it is your yearly tax return, which Elevated Tax Strategies prepares, and those start at $1,000. I am not making money on the bookkeeping. I am earning the tax work.
- What is the catch on the software?
- If your business runs more than 250 transactions a year, Kick charges for the software. You can pay it through us, or Kick can bill you directly. That is Kick's charge for their software, not a fee from me, and most businesses this size never reach 250 transactions.
- What happens when I pass $75,000?
- Once you pass $75,000 a year, bookkeeping starts at $325 a month. No contracts, and you hear about it before an invoice does. You will not get a surprise invoice, and there is nothing to cancel if you would rather stop.
- Why are there no meetings?
- Meetings are most of what makes bookkeeping expensive. After onboarding there are no standing calls you did not ask for. You post a question in Basecamp and I answer it there, which also means you can scroll back and see exactly when you asked and what I said.
- Whose Kick account is it?
- Yours. It is created in your name. If you ever want to leave, your books go with you and nothing has to be rebuilt or handed over. I am not reselling you software.
- My books are a mess and I am behind. Do I still qualify?
- Probably, and you are the person this is for. Bring what you have. On the onboarding call we agree on how far back is worth going before anything starts, so there are no surprises.
- Do I have to use Elevated Tax Strategies for my return?
- Yes. That is the whole trade, and it is the only reason the bookkeeping can be free. If you would rather keep your current tax preparer, that is completely fine, but then this is not the right offer and we should talk about regular monthly bookkeeping instead.
Ready to stop doing your own books?
Book the onboarding. If you qualify we start right away, and you will not have to sit in another meeting with me.
